Plastipak Packaging’s European arm (formerly APPE) is celebrating an impressive set of results at the recent Starpack Awards, scooping three gold and two bronze awards. The event was held at the National Space Centre in Leicester on September 10, 2015.
E-LiquiPack™, a packaging system for e-liquid used to refill electronic cigarettes, won its gold in the Home, DIY & Gifts category, with judges describing it as an “Excellent technical development, functions as per submissions and meets all legislative requirements”.
Plastipak’s new range of round ThermaLite™ jars, that can be hot-filled and pasteurized, won a bronze Greenstar Sustainable Award. Designed to replace glass jars, significant weight and carbon footprint savings can be achieved through the use of ThermaLite™ in food applications.
Ground breaking SprayPET™ Reveal, the world’s first transparent bag-on-valve aerosol system, won a gold award in the Materials Innovation category. Opening up a potential new world of eye-catching aerosols with maximum impact, the judges said that SprayPET Reveal® is an “Innovative technically, sound solution which delivers consumer benefits”.
The Nordictan self-tanning lotion product packaged in a SprayPET™ aerosol received a bronze award in the Personal Care category. The SprayPET™ team then capped their success by being crowned Packaging Development Team of the Year, with unanimous agreement of the judging panel.
Plastipak’s run of success continues beyond Starpack, with four entries being shortlisted in the Plastics Industry Awards, taking place on October 9th, and a remarkable result at the UK Packaging Awards with the company being shortlisted in five categories, including Company of the Year, Innovation of the Year and Investment Programme of the Year. The UK Packaging Awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday November 11th.
