Atlanta
sits in the north-central part of Georgia, in the foothills
of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just south of the Chattahoochee
River. The city is a sprawling conglomeration of distinct
neighborhoods. The town was chosen as Georgia’s capital
in 1877, and continued to thrive throughout the late 19th
and early 20th centuries.
